Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Chicago, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across Illinois run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.

Chicago is in Illinois, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Chicago follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Not your typical Thai restaurant; don't come in to expect to order Pad Thai which they do not serve here. Got the "Thai fishcakes" ($15) from the specials on the blackboard which is what Michelin's "fishcakes with cucumber-herb salad" recommendation, but "khao tod" is not on the menu. Also tried "Grama's pork belly" ($18.5) which is not what I would expected for pork belly in Asian restaurant. Pad Siew ($18.75) and Pad Kee Mao ($18.75) are good but nothing stands out too much. Some of the review pictures and dishes does not match of what's served in the restaurant; be aware of if you would like to order food from the review pictures. They open at 4PM on Sat.; was no trouble to find street parking around that time.

Food was surprisingly flavorful. Menu is limited but the offered options are very traditional and tasty. Service was very good. It's a BYOB. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a party of 4 at peak time Sat evening. Highly recommend

Nice Cozy Spot, friendly server. I ordered the Pad Kee Mao platter with Shrimp & chicken. The sautΓ©d proteins paired along a combination of charred noodles and veggies was great. Our spice power was a homemade red sauce along with βhome roasted peppersβ which to me tasted a lot like Chiles de arbol. Appetizers were non existent on the menu besides the ones written on the chalkboard on the wall which surprised me for a Michelin Star restaurant. However the 3x$5 veggie rolls available were crispy and fresh. $4 BYOB fee for 1 tall boy can of white claw I brought in since there is no beer on the menu. For a Michelin Guide Restaurant. Iβll be brutally honest. I was expecting a little more spark as far as the music, ambiance and wider food selection, other than that a great experience overall.

Ghin Khao is a charming Thai spot with a casual semi self serve setup. The menu is compact yet thoughtful, and everything we ordered hit the mark: the chicken satay was deliciously nutty, the shrimp salad bright and refreshing with a nice kick of spice, and the pad kee mao comforting and well balanced. The grandmaβs pork belly was a standout - crispy, fragrant, and indulgent without being overly fatty. The service was incredibly warm & friendly that further elevated our visit. Easily one of the most memorable and cozy Thai food spots in town, and weβd love to return soon.

Before I went here I already knew that I liked Thai food quite a bit, but it wasn't quite my favorite cuisine. Going here made me change my mind and fall in love with thai cuisine in general. The papaya salad is a great combo of fresh veggies with a great kick of spice and umami at the end. The larb gai is my benchmark for other Thai restaurants, and so far none have come close. The pad kee mao has the best noodles in terms of chew and char. I seriously can't get enough of this place and it's always a treat to get it when I'm in the area. God bless the chef that's in the back especially since each time I've been here they were running solo. 5 stars please never close down.
